Drug Abuse - Does Your Ward Need Help
Drugs and drinks have been present among us since a long time. The only difference is that in the olden times, our forefathers were too busy to indulge in such things, and now as the present day generation has been used to getting everything free of cost and easily, drug and drinks have become their staple food. Peer pressure and changes in the mentality of the child during the onset of the teenage years forces them to try and test these substances on themselves.
Weed and drink has now been seen as a quick way to end all trouble and misery. The children look up to their parents for guidance and when they see parents themselves indulging in such malpractices they try to emulate them to see what is so good about it. Teenagers are in the prime of their lives and their brain doesn't fully comprehend the harsh effects that drugs and drink will have on their lives and hence to safeguard them from these dangers one must guide and direct them on the right track.
Parents need to be aware about the changes that are occurring in their child's life. Sudden changes for the worse may single that the child is going through a rough time and is in need of counseling or things will take a turn for the worse. Parents may not always be able to prevent a child from doing drugs but once they find out about it they can surely try to help their child stop doing drugs. For this to be done a parent should notice changes in the behavior of the wards. Depression, loneliness, peer pressure as well as adolescence have far reaching effects on the mind of a teen. Lying, stealing, secretiveness, as well as, non participation in social and extracurricular activities, are signs that your ward is into drugs and if not taken care of, it will sure spell doom for him/her.

It is better to treat and care for this condition in the early stages as when they become full time addicts the missing of even a single dose will spell disaster for them and the ones around them. This is so as when they do not get their dose on time they are willing o anything to acquire the means to get the dose. This is one of the toughest spots to get them out off and it is usually the last that anyone sees of them.
It has been seen that when a parent comes to know that their child is into drugs the first expression is that of anger; however this should not be the case. The parent should sit down and talk to the child properly and make him/her understand the ill effects of their actions. Making your child sit down for Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and Drug rehab programs along with counseling sessions will help them get over the urge to indulge in drugs and drinks that are harmful for his/her health in the long run.
